Kim Kardashian always sets her sights high, and that includes getting her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Kim recently noted in an interview that even though reality television stars aren’t considered for the honor, she’d love to be the one person who somehow wound up with her own star someday.
Bad news, Kimmy: It’s not going to happen, at least, not anytime soon. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce says it’s not even a personal thing: It’s a matter of policy. The criteria for consideration for a Hollywood Walk of Fame star includes winning prestigious awards (like an Emmy Award or an Academy Award). Not only that, a Chamber rep said that each candidate has to “…have a career in the business of acting for five years or more.”
One could argue that Kim Kardashian IS acting on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” Many think the show is so staged and fake, that it’s all acting. That doesn’t matter. If Kim K. aspires to someday have her name in bronze on the Hollywood Boulevard Walk of Fame, she’s going to have to work for it. She’ll need her own sitcom, or more movie roles (more than just walk-on parts, too).
For now, hats off to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. Giving Kim Kardashian her own star on Hollywood Boulevard for just being, well, a reality star, would cheapen the honor for everyone!
