Kim Kardashian and her sisters are in a bit of legal trouble, and this has absolutely nothing to do with Kim’s ongoing divorce battle with Kris Humphries. No, this particular situation concerns Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian’s new cosmetics line, Khroma. The line is on target to launch next month, but questions surrounding the name persist.
What’s going on? Well, it seems Kim Kardashian and her family are fighting off claims by two different makeup companies that they ripped off the “Khroma” name. The owner of one of those companies, Chroma Makeup in Beverly Hills, California, claims that because the Kardashians will be selling their Khroma line in drugstores and elsewhere, it might cause him to lose clients. Michael Rey is concerned his high-end clientele might get the wrong idea. He’s threatening a lawsuit.
Now, TMZ reports that yet another cosmetics company has come forward, claiming a possible trademark violation. The name of this other company? Why, it’s Kroma, of course. And yes, that’s without the “H.” This whole situation casts a nasty shadow over Kim Kardashian’s latest big business venture. Will she and her sisters decide to change the name of their makeup line to avoid getting sued?
Poor Kim, she just can’t catch a break. Still, it’s hard not to wonder with the whole Khroma/Chroma/Kroma situation, isn’t it?
